Introduction

In this module, we focus on methods and procedures for data collection. We learn sampling techniques for various groups, relevant research designs and research instruments. Research quality is key in ensuring ethics and academic standards, hence the module covers reliability, validity and objectivity of the research methods we have selected. We also identify possible methods of data analysis.

Specific  Objectives

By the end the module, you should be able to:

  1. Select the most appropriate design for your research,
  2. Identify the target population and appropriate sampling technique and size,
  3. State various sources of data and describe the data collection methods,
  4. Discuss the research quality issues selected in your study.
  5. Select the most appropriate data analysis method

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the session, you should be able to draft chapter 3 (research methodology) of the thesis.

Mode of Delivery: Online and/or face to face. Open to choice of learner

Pre-requisite: None

Target Learners: Masters or Doctoral  level candidates in social sciences.
